Councillor Louise Ferrie-Blecher

Louise Ferrie-Blecher immigrated to Canada from Northern Ireland as a young child.  She grew up in Guelph, Ontario and lived in Montreal, Windsor, and Toronto before moving to Port Hope with her husband and 2 sons in 2005. 

Louise has a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Guelph, a Diploma in International Studies from the University of Copenhagen, and received her Law Degree from the University of WIndsor. She practiced family law in Toronto, and then started a consulting business, primarily providing services to healthcare clinics. She currently assists her husband in the management of his medical practice. 

Louise has volunteered extensively with numerous community groups, schools, and sports teams. From 2012 - 2014, she was the spokesperson for the citizen's group, Port Hope Residents 4 Managing Waste Responsibly.  While her son was a member of the Northumberland Aquatic Club, a local competitive swim team, she assisted with fundraising and officiating. 

From 2006-2014 Louise served on swim team's Board of Directors in a variety of roles and was President for several terms. She has been actively involved in the Parent's Guild at Trinity College School, and since 2010, has chaired the silent auction committee for the school's annual Bear Fair.  Louise has also been involved in many sports teams throughout her life, both as an athlete and coach.  As both of her sons have been involved in numerous competitive sports teams, Louise has spent many hours over the last decade assisting and officiating at their many sporting competitions.
