Mary Lou Ellis was born and raised in Burlington, Ontario and attended the University of Toronto. She began her career in publishing with Sailing Canada Magazine in 1985. In 1991 Mary Lou relocated to Port Hope when the company moved here and she has happily made it her home ever since.
Recently completing a 19-month contract with Atomic Energy in the Port Hope Area Initiative Management Office, Mary Lou is now semi-retired and loves the opportunity to increase her volunteer involvement in the community. Having served on Board of the HBIA, the Property Standards Committee and raised funds for the restoration of the Capitol Theatre. Mary Lou now works with the ACO House Tour, Port Hope Jazz Festival and the Northumberland Fare Share Food Banks, volunteering at both the Port Hope and Cobourg locations and acting as the Board's Recording Secretary.
Mary Lou and Bill live on Sullivan Street with their Sheltie Buddy and the horrible cat, Sam.
