councillor rick austin - ward i
Chair, General Government & Finance Committee
Rick Austin was born and raised in Port Hope. He has worked in the grocery business for 45 years.
Elected to the Council of the former Town of Port Hope in 1988, Rick chaired each of the major committees during his tenure as a Councillor. In 2001, Mr. Austin was elected Mayor of the newly amalgamated Municipality of Port Hope. Retiring from politics in 2006, he enjoys golf and traveling. Rick decided to run for Council in 2010 to become involved in the community once again.
Mr. Austin has been married to his wife Jo-Ann for 43 years; they have two grown sons, Dale and Todd, and six grandchildren.
