Mission Statement
"To enhance the quality of life for Port Hope residents through development of the waterfront, trails, harbour and associated lands."
Goals
- To ensure the overall development of new waterfront and trail areas especially where linkages can be completed.
- To assist with the establishment of standards in trail construction and maintenance.
- To actively promote the increase in use of all facilities associated with the waterfront and trails.
- To encourage volunteer involvement in all areas of waterfront and trail development.
- To pro-actively encourage and support short and long range planning for the waterfront and trails.
- To assist with the development of innovative revenue generation programs for the waterfront and trails as they are available.
- To assist staff as required with the general/overall administration of the waterfront and trails.
Planning and Policy Development
The Committee shall:
- Review and recommend through staff to Council the adoption of by-laws and policies relating to the Waterfront and Trail Advisory Committee.
- Annually review and make recommendations related to the Waterfront and Trail Advisory Committee's mandate and goal statements.
- Annually review, make recommendations relating to the creation of and implementation of all planning documents related to the waterfront, trails and harbour.
- Annually provide input and advice on the development of capital budgets to the Director of Parks, Recreation Culture in order for the Director to make recommendations to Council in support of said budgets.
- Assist in the implementation of any planning studies related to the waterfront, trail and harbour.
- Play an active role in the development of the Waterfront within the Municipality.
Community Development
The Committee:
- Will assist Council and Staff in the identification of community needs related to the waterfront, trails and harbour.
- Shall liaise with community groups and individuals to remain aware of their requirements and to solicit citizen input and support. The identification of these needs and their priorities will assist in the maintenance of a long-term plan concerning all facilities and services in the community.
- Shall assist with the research and submission related to any grant monies that may be or become available from any Federal/Provincial/Municipal bodies relating to waterfront improvements.
BY-LAW NUMBER: (#85/2007) Being a By-law to Establish the Waterfront and Trail Advisory Committee for the Corporation of the Municipality of Port Hope.
