The Role of the Chief Administrative Officer
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) is responsible to Municipal Council for ensuring the broad mandate of administrative and operational requirements of the Municipality are carried out. All Municipal Department Heads, the Human Resources Manager, and the Communications Coordinator report directly to the CAO.
The CAO oversees the administration of all departments to implement the Corporation's policies and procedures as set by Council through By-law, Resolution or as otherwise established. Municipal Staff endeavors to assist and support Council in making the best possible decisions and in implementing those decisions efficiently and effectively.
The Municipality of Port Hope provides a wide range of services to our residents and businesses in the community including: works and engineering, water and sewage treatment, land use planning, building inspections and permits, engineering, Corporate Services/Municipal Clerk's office, finance and treasury, parks, recreation and culture, public transit, economic development and tourism, fire protection and emergency planning, police services, By-law enforcement, and library services amongst many others.
