port hope TRANSIT

The Municipality of Port Hope offers transit services within the urban area of the Municipality and to Cobourg's Northumberland Mall, Walmart, and Northumberland Hills Hospital. The bus leaves Town Hall every hour on the hour.  There are two routes through the urban area (Route A on west side, Route B on east side of Port Hope).

Operating hours of transit are:

                Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
                Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

          * No service on Sundays and holidays

Priority Seating is mandated under Ontario Regulation 191/11 (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005).  Passengers must vacate the designated seating if it is required by a passenger with a disability.  Priority Seating is located in the first row of seating behind the bus driver.  Look for the following image to identify where Priority Seating is:

Cobourg - Port Hope Service

The bus leaves Town Hall every hour on the hour and arrives at the Northumberland Mall every hour at 10 minutes past the hour. Riders may transfer to a Cobourg bus for $1.00 or ride the Port Hope bus to the Hospital - the bus then returns to Port Hope.

  • Monday - Friday Arrives at the Mall at 10 minutes past the hour from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm (last shuttle at 7:10 pm)
  • Saturday Arrives at the Mall at 10 minutes past the hour from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (last shuttle at 3:10 pm)

ROLLS - Specialty Bus Service

The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to provide ROLLS service to eligible patrons who are unable to utilize regular public transit.   A resident of the Municipality of Port Hope with a physical disability (permanent or temporary), who is unable to board regular public transit, should complete the ROLLS information and Application Form below.  Note:  Service is currently restricted to residents of the urban area.  

  • Service provider is The BTS Network
  • Operating hours match the regular transit service hours:

                Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
                Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  

          * No service on Sundays and holidays

  • Trip reservations are available by phone at 1-877-284-RIDE (7433) or on-line at www.thebtsnetwork.comReservations should be made with at least 24 hours notice except in emergencies.


Demand Bookings:

All bookings are made on a "first come, first serve" basis.

Subscription Bookings:

A subscription booking arrangement is service for registrants who travel on a regular pre-determined basis to and/or from a destination.  The following applies to subscription bookings:

1. Shall be limited to work, school, and medical appointments;

2. One booking per week per person;

3. A maximum duration of four weeks; and

4. All subscription bookings which fall on statutory holidays will be automatically cancelled.
