For any Planning Act application, a Pre-Consultation Meeting appointment between the Applicant and Planning Staff is required to ensure that both the Applicant and the Municipality have a clear understanding of the purpose of the proposed application, the type of application required and, where necessary, the appropriate studies, information and materials to support the proposed application. Pre-consultation also provides Applicants an opportunity to gain an understanding of the planning process in the Municipality.

3. Site Plan Application
Required under the Planning Act to control or regulate the various features on the site of an actual development including building location, landscaping, drainage, parking, and access by pedestrians and vehicles. 4. Subdivision Application Form
Required for a plan of subdivision or condominium for which multiple lots or blocks are created from an existing property. An approved plan of subdivision or condominium is required under the Planning Act for the lots or blocks to be sold separately, and a registered plan will outline the details as to how those lots or blocks can be developed. 5. Zoning By-law Amendment or Official Plan Amendment Application
Required for existing or proposed development which does not comply with the policies or regulations contained in the current Zoning By-law and Official Plan and you must apply for an amendment by completing an application and submitting all required information and fees to Planning Services. The process to obtain a Zoning By-law or Official Plan amendment is a public process which is processed in accordance with Ontario Planning Legislation (Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990). Fee is indicated on the application form. Note fees have changed effective January 1, 2018.

6. Removal of "H" - Holding Provision Application
Required where a Zoning By-law Zone symbol is followed by a set of brackets, a letter "H" and a number contained within the brackets. For example, in zone symbol RES4(H1), the symbol refers to a Holding Provision that applies to the lands noted. No person shall use or permit the land to which the Hold applies for any use other than the use which legally existed on the date the By-law applying the Holding Provision came into effect or the use(s) permitted in the By-law enacting the Hold, or expand or replace an existing building or structure as the case may be, until the Hold "(H)" is removed in accordance with the policies of the Official Plan and Section 36 of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13, as amended. 7. Consent Application
Required to be heard by the Committee of Adjustment regarding land transactions for the separation of a parcel of land from existing land holdings i.e. creation of a new parcel of land; boundary adjustments / lot addition; easements or correction of title; leases, rights-of-ways or easements if such extend beyond a period of 21 years and to partially mortgage or partially discharge a mortgage on a parcel of land under the provisions of the Planning Act. 8. Minor Variance Application
Applies to existing or proposed development which does not comply with the regulations contained in the current Zoning By-law. If you are applying for relief from the current Zoning By-law in respect of land, building or structures or of the use thereof, a minor variance application to the Committee of Adjustment is required under the Planning Act. When submitting a Minor Variance Application, it is strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment with the Secretary-Treasurer well in advance of submission deadlines email@example.com. Note: As of July 1, 2016, changes to the Planning Act prohibit an applicant from making an application for minor variance if a site specific zoning by-law amendment has been passed within the last two years. If your property has been the subject of a site specific zoning by-law amendment passed after July 1, 2016, then you will need Council approval to proceed with the application. Please contact Planning for information on how to proceed with the application. If your property has not been the subject of a site specific zoning by-law amendment passed after July 1, 2016, then you can make a minor variance application.

9. Heritage Permit Application Form
Required to undertake changes to properties or to signage on properties designated under the Ontario Heritage Act or within a Heritage Conservation District. There are two heritage conservation districts: "Walton Street Heritage Conservation District" and "John, Ontario and Queen Street Heritage Conservation District". Internal changes to a building on a designated property do not normally require a Heritage Permit approval if external appearance is not affected. The heritage designation by-law for the property will outline the specific elements of the building that are to be preserved.

3. Plumbing Permit Application
Northumberland County is responsible for plumbing and sewage system inspections. For convenience, the Municipality of Port Hope issues plumbing permits for properties located within the Municipality’s boundaries. Complete the Plumbing Permit Application and submit to the Municipality of Port Hope Building Services Division. 6. Tent Pre-Permit Clearance Form
Tents installed within the Municipality of Port Hope which exceed 10m² require a Building Permit regardless of the length of time the tent will be installed. There is no charge to obtain a Building Permit for a tent.
