The HKPR District Health Unit works with the residents of communities to help prevent illness, protect against disease and promote healthy lifestyles. The Unit provides support and guidance on a variety of public health issues including nutrition, physical activity, and substance abuse. They monitor water quality, inspect food premises, approve septic systems and investigate environmental hazards. Furthermore, the Unit works to prevent the spread of communicable diseases through immunization and infection control programs. The Unit provides resources, education, guidance, programs and information to the residents of the community.
