Below is a summary of key items discussed at the Municipality of Port Hope regular Council Meeting held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017. The full agenda and staff reports are available on the Municipality of Port Hope Council Portal.

Special Event Resolutions
Several resolutions were passed in support of upcoming special events taking place in the Municipality, including:

The Farmers Market Arts Festival Event – August 12
The Mini-Mega Print Project – Steamroller event – September 23 & 24
Cultivate – A Festival of Food and Drink – September 22, 23 & 24

Council also approved the location of the Outdoor Fitness Equipment location to be constructed at Cavan Street Park, after considering a staff report at the July 4 Committee of the Whole meeting, which included the results of the community consultation.

The storm sewer relining contract was awarded to DM Robichaud Associates Ltd. in the amount of $284,174.15. Storm sewers on Augusta, Strachan, and Gifford Street will be relined, with funding from the approved 2017 Capital budget as well as funding received from the both the Provincial and Federal Clean Water and Wastewater Fund.

Agenda Addendum:
An alteration to the Regular Council Agenda was issued regarding the Established Special Services By-law 46-2017. Consideration of this By-law has been put over for consideration at the Council meeting of September 5, 2017 due to the expected absence of a Councillor at the August 1, 2017 meeting. This is in keeping with previous direction of the Committee of the Whole, passed at their June 6, 2017 meeting:
“That the By-law be prepared for presentation to Council amending Schedule 'A' to By-law 28/2014 be brought forward on August 1, 2017 to ensure full attendance by Council members.”

Minutes from this meeting will be available pending approval at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at which point they will become the official record of the meeting.

A recording of the August 1, 2017 Regular Council meeting and the Committee of the Whole meeting is available at porthope.ca/council-communications.
