For Immediate Release

Friday, July 14, 2017 - Port Hope, ON

Pool maintenance continues at Port Hope’s Jack Burger Sports Complex (JBSC), as staff and contractors continue to work diligently to reopen the pool facilities and resume programming as usual on Monday, July 24.

“Our staff and contractors have been working seven days a week in an effort to repair the unforeseen issues with the bottom of the pools,” noted Jim McCormack, Director of Parks, Recreation and Culture at the Municipality of Port Hope. “After the paint removal from the pool’s floor surface, more moisture was detected, which has delayed our efforts to remediate the problem – a glitch we had not anticipated.”

Programming for the week of July 17 has been cancelled by municipal staff. The pool has been further assessed by an engineer and a new date of July 24 has been targeted for the reopening.

“We will be working throughout the weekend again so that we can resume our programming as soon possible,” added Mr. McCormack. “Our priority is to ensure that the pool is fully restored and that our patrons are able to enjoy the full use of the JBSC.”

Questions or concerns regarding pool programming can be directed to the JBSC staff at
