The Municipality of Port Hope has initiated a Municipal Class Environmental Assessment to evaluate alternatives for the proposed extension of Pemberton Drive from Fox Road to Henderson Street to better service the Business Park. This study is intended to address design options, environmental concerns, and mitigation measures.
The Municipal Class Environmental Assessment process (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 & 2015) is approved under the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act and allows municipalities to follow a Class EA process when undertaking municipal infrastructure projects. The study will confirm the need and justification for the proposed extension; identify alternative solutions to the defined problems and opportunities; and select a preferred implementation strategy. The alternative solutions will consider the effects on engineering and public safety, natural environment, social environment, economic environment and cultural environment. At the conclusion of the assessment, a screening report will be prepared. The Greer Galloway Group will file the report for public review. A Notice of Study Completion will be published in the local newspaper and on the municipal web page.
An integral component of this project is to undertake direct consultation with affected stakeholders, agencies, and the general public. As such, a Public Information Centre (PIC) has been scheduled. The PIC will have an open house format, during which the Project Team will present conceptual design information relative to the project and address any questions or concerns.
