Athletic Wall of Honour

The Municipality of Port Hope is in the process of installing a Wall of Honour for Athletic Achievement in Port Hope, which will be located at the Jack Burger Sports Complex. With the Wall of Honour, we are recognizing significant achievements of athletes and persons involved in sport. This is a joint project between the Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) and the PRC Advisory Committee.

As a new initiative, we are excited to highlight 3 components to honour our local stories:

  • An interactive kiosk where you can select and read information regarding a wide variety of articles, digital photos and videos;
  • A display case to showcase various items. This display case will be changed frequently to contain items on loan giving highlighting a variety of athletic achievements and historical collectables. The items in the display case will be catalogued and given back to the original owner once the items are rotated out of the display;
  • Wall of Honour Plaques will line the mezzanine as recognition of persons with significant contributions to sport. Our initial honoured athletes will include those whose pictures are currently hanging in the arena lobby of the Jack Burger Sports Complex. These include Jim Roberts, Paul Quantrill, Dennis O’Brien, Shane O’Brien, Ronald Smith,Stan Crossett, and Paul Terbenche. These pictures have historical significance and we look to honour these athletes with an updated plaque including a biography.

To add to these existing athletes, we will continuously be looking for nominations for the Wall of Honour and look to our community members to recommend athletes and achievements in sport.

Please let us know if you know of an athlete, story or a team that should be recognized in any area of this exciting initiative by completing the forms below.

All kiosk and nomination submissions can be sent to:
