Active Living and Nutrition Series

The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to announce that we will be offering an Active Living and Nutrition Series starting in January 2020. This series will consist of free fitness classes, free community kitchens, and free lunch and learn seminars.

Fitness Class Dates and Times:

The first fitness class will be a beginner strength and conditioning class on Friday January 24th from 11am-12pm at the Port Hope Community Hub.

The second fitness class will be a functional fitness class on Friday February 21st from 11am-12pm at the Port Hope Community Hub.

The third fitness class will be a 20/20/20 class on Friday March 6th from 9am-10am at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.

Community Kitchen Dates and Times:

"Chicken 3-Ways" will be on Wednesday January 29th from 1-4pm at the Port Hope Community Hub.

"Beyond the Greens: How to Create a Plant Based Meal" will be on Wednesday February 26th from 1-4pm at the Port Hope Community Hub.

"Italian Meal; Meat and Vegetarian Option Available" will be on Wednesday March 25th from 1-4pm at the Port Hope Community Hub.

Lunch and Learn Seminars

The first lunch and learn seminar will be on January 24th from 12:30-2pm at the Port Hope Community Hub. This seminar will be focusing on how to incorporate nutrition foods into your diet, creating a meal on a budget and how to cook for one or two people.

The second lunch and learn seminar will be on February 21st from 12:30-2pm at the Port Hope Community Hub. This seminar will be focusing on functional fitness, how to incorporate simple exercises at home and some motivational tips and tricks.

The third lunch and learn seminar will be March 11th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at the Town Park Recreation Centre.  This seminar is on Fall Prevention and Recovery.

Register for all free events to secure your spot. Space is limited. Registration can be done online, over the phone or in person at one of our facilities.

 

We are pleased to offer a wide variety of programs available for Seniors at our recreation facilities.

Drop-in programs including badminton, pickleball, indoor shuffleboard, walking club, men's activity club and more. Register for some of our wellness or fitness classes including Zumba, Zumba Gold, gentle yoga, HeartWise Chronic Health Program, and seniors beat the clock.

Ruth Clarke Activity Centre

The Ruth Clarke Activity Centre offers a variety of opportunities for members 55 years or older. Programs include scrabble, bridge, painting classes, chess, euchre, tai chi, darts, canasta and more!
