At the recent Committee of the Whole meeting, Council Members considered Report CS-03-24, which explored options for filling the vacant seat in Ward 2. Chris Collins is Appointed Justice of the Peace and Resigns from Municipality of Port Hope Council

The Provincial Government announced today that Chris Collins has been appointed as a Justice of the Peace. Per the Justices of the Peace Act, Mr. Collins is no longer eligible to serve as a Member of Council for the Municipality of Port Hope. This is due to the requirement that a Justice of the Peace must terminate other employment and abstain from engaging in any political activities upon appointment.
