Phase 3 of Walton Street Reconstruction Begins

The Municipality of Port Hope reminds residents that Phase 3 of the Walton Street Reconstruction Project begins today, Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
Walton Street will be closed from Cavan Street to Pine Street. Fencing and signage will be installed, and construction crews will begin mobilizing equipment in the work zone and at the staging area located at 74 Queen Street. Temporary water line installation will also commence in the coming days.

The Committee of the Whole meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, April 1, 2025, has been postponed to Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall.
This decision was made in recognition of the ongoing impacts of the recent ice storm, which has left many residents and staff members without power. Spring Hydrant Flushing Program

The spring Hydrant Maintenance Program will be underway on weekdays starting April 7 until May 16, 2025. This is important upkeep to ensure that adequate water flow and pressure is available throughout the urban area of the community.
While the hydrant flushing is taking place in your area, avoid doing your laundry as water may be at lower pressure than normal and rust may occur.

Update: 7:45 a.m. - Fire Station 3 will be open to the public today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for residents impacted by ongoing power outages to access water, a warm space, and to charge devices. Fire Station 1 is also open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
