October Council Meetings to Continue Virtually

Please be advised that all Council and Committee of the Whole meetings will continue to be held virtually throughout the month of October.

This temporary measure is necessary due to unexpected delays in receiving key materials for the new audio-visual (AV) system installation in Council Chambers. Closure Notice: National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

The Municipality of Port Hope will be observing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30.

The following buildings and services will be closed on Tuesday, September 30, 2025:

• Town Hall
• Fire Administration Office
• Development Team Office
• Water Treatment Plant
• Wastewater Treatment Plant
• Joint Operation Centre
• Rural Works Yard
• Port Hope Public Library
• Transit routes A, B and C

Fall Hydrant Flushing Program

Residents are advised that Municipal staff will be flushing the fire hydrants as part of a standard maintenance program. Residents are asked to refrain from doing laundry on the following dates and times, as water may be at lower pressure than normal and rust may occur:

Dates: October 6 to November 21, 2025 - Weekdays (Monday to Friday)

West Side of Ganaraska River - Mornings - 7:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
East Side of Ganaraska River - Afternoons - 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A Special Council Workshop Session has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Community Room, Jack Burger Sports Complex, 60 Highland Drive, Port Hope.

Community Open House – Learn About Potential Housing Changes

Residents are invited to join staff at a community open house to learn about and provide feedback before a Zoning By-law Amendment is applied for, and considered formally, in a Statutory Public Meeting. This amendment will focus on updating the rules around Additional Residential Units (ARUs) and Housing definitions. The open house will take place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Jack Burger Sports Complex Community Room (60 Highland Drive).
