Specialty Classes
The Municipality of Port Hope runs programs with staff certified through Ontario Artistic Swimming and Diving Canada. Participants can join these non-competitive programs.
Artistic/Synchronized Swimming
Artistic Swimming (known as Synchronized Swimming until 2017) is a combination of swimming, dance, and gymnastics. Swimmers perform a synchronized routine with elaborate moves in the water accompanied by music.
Synchro Squirts |
Synchro squirts are beginner swimmers. Groups will have a low student to instructor ratio. The classes provide an opportunity for children to learn basic artistic (synchro) swimming skills and work together as part of a team. They will get to show off their newfound skills at the Christmas Show. Prerequisite – Comfortable in the big pool Ages 4 – 7 – Squirts Date: to be determined |
Artistic Swimming |
A fun sport for anyone that enjoys exploring movement in the water. The program is designed to improve swimming skills, flexibility and strength, while having fun and building friendships and learning the value of teamwork. Swimmers are invited to participate in fun competitions, perform at the Christmas show. Prerequisite – Red Cross 4 or equivalent Ages 8 - 18 – Child and Teen |
