The Municipality of Port Hope runs programs with staff certified through Ontario Artistic Swimming and Diving Canada. Participants can join these non-competitive programs.

Artistic/Synchronized Swimming

Artistic Swimming (known as Synchronized Swimming until 2017) is a combination of swimming, dance, and gymnastics. Swimmers perform a synchronized routine with elaborate moves in the water accompanied by music.

Synchro Squirts

Synchro Squirts is a program for both boys and girls and is designed for beginner swimmers who can swim a little bit on their own, but are not quite ready for the regular Artistic Swimming program. Synchro Squirts will teach basic synchro skills and will take place in the big pool.

Students should be comfortable with both putting their face in the water and being in the 25m pool. Students will be able to show off their new skills to family and friends in a Finale Show on Saturday May 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Prerequisite – Comfortable in the big pool

Ages: 5 to 7 

Class Date: March 21 to May 23, 2023

Tuesdays: 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Synchro Squirts Registration

Artistic Swimming/Synchronized - Beginner

Artistic Swimming (known as Synchronized Swimming until 2017) is a combination of swimming, dance and gymnastics in the water. The Beginner program is for those between 8 and 10 years old. Swimmers will learn to perform a routine using moves practiced throughout the season.

This program is open to everyone and is designed to improve swimming skills, flexibility and strength, while having fun and building friendships and building teamwork. Students will be able to show off their new skills to family and friends in a Finale Show on Saturday May 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Prerequisite: Completed Swimmer 3

Ages: 8 to 10

Class Date: March 21 to May 23, 2023

Tuesdays: 7:15 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Artistic Swimming/Synchronized - Intermediate

Artistic Swimming (known as Synchronized Swimming until 2017) is a combination of swimming, dance and gymnastics in the water. The Intermediate program is for those between 10 and 18 years old. Swimmers will learn to perform a routine as a team and small groups using moves practiced throughout the season. This program is open to everyone and is designed to improve swimming skills, flexibility and strength, while having fun and building friendships and building teamwork. The session will end with a Finale Show on Saturday May 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Prerequisite: Completed Red Cross Level 3

Ages: 10 to 18

Class Date:  January 10 to March 7, 2023 and March 21 to May 23, 2023

Tuesdays: 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Registration for the March 21 to May 23, 2023 session will begin January 30, 2023.

Artistic/Synchronized Swimming - Adult 

Artistic Swimming (known as Synchronized Swimming until 2017) is a combination of swimming, dance and gymnastics in the water. Swimmers will learn to perform a routine using moves practiced throughout the season. This program is designed to improve swimming skills, flexibility and strength, while having fun and building friendships and building teamwork. The session will end with a Finale Show on Saturday May 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Come and swim with a great group of adults and have fun in the water.

Ages: 18 Plus

Class Date: January 13 to March 10, 2023 and March 21 to May 23, 2023

Fridays: 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
