Recreation passes and holiday decorSeasonal Recreation Passes

Recreation Passes are offered for a limited time during certain parts of the year.  These passes are purchased in 10 packs and are only redeemable for children and youth. These packages are offered for two different drop-in style activities:

  • Swimming or Skating
  • Gym drop-in

These passes are currently not available.

Recreation Pass Terms and Conditions

Recreation passes cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash.  

Use of Recreation Passes is subject to these terms and conditions governing its use, which may be amended by the Municipality of Port Hope from time to time in its discretion. The purchase, use or acceptance of an Municipality of Port Hope recreation pass constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

The Consumer Protection Act requires that all restrictions and conditions must be stated in clear and visible writing for the customer.

Terms and Conditions Applicable to Municipality of Port Hope, Department of Parks, Recreation and Culture Recreation Passes

Information about the Municipality of Port Hope, Department of Parks, Recreation And Culture Recreation Passes:

The Corporation of the Municipality of Port Hope, Department of Parks, Recreation And Culture offers recreation passes as determined by the Municipality from time to time that can be redeemed for one admission to swimming/skating or gym drop-in depending on what the pass is for, as applicable, in participating facilities, unless otherwise indicated on the Recreation Pass or in these Terms and Conditions.

  • The terms “you” and “your” refer to the person who purchased the Recreation Pass and/or the person who uses the Recreation Pass.
  • The purchase and/or use of a Recreation Pass constitutes your acceptance of these Terms and Conditions, as amended from time to time by the Municipality in its sole discretion.
  • Recreation Passes cannot be resold.
  • Recreation Passes are not redeemable for cash and are non-refundable, except where required by law.
  • There is no cash back for unused Recreation Passes, except where required by law.

Purchasing a Recreation Pass:

  • Recreation Passes can be purchased at the Jack burger Sports Complex or Town Park Recreation Centre.
  • Recreation Passes must be purchased in Canadian dollars.
  • Recreation passes can be purchased in-person and may be paid for by cash or with a valid Mastercard, VISA, debit. The Municipality reserves the right to change the permitted methods of payment, including without limitation, the credit cards the Municipality is able to accept, at any time.
  • All Recreation Pass sales are final. You cannot cancel an order once it has been paid for.
  • The Municipality reserves the right to hold, suspend, cancel or refuse an order for which fraud, a violation of these Terms and Conditions, or a security risk is suspected. If your order is affected, you will be notified via email.
  • By making a purchase of a Recreation Pass, you represent and warrant to the Municipality as follows:
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of all information that you provide to the Municipality.
  • Resale of Recreation Passes or use for unauthorized advertising, marketing, sweepstakes or other promotional purposes is strictly prohibited.

Redeeming a Recreation Pass:

  • Recreation passes cannot be replaced if already redeemed.
  • Recreation Passes may be void if altered, damaged or defaced.
  • Recreation Passes are redeemable at any Municipal recreation facility.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Recreation Passes:

Recreation Passes cannot be recovered or replaced if lost or stolen. Recreation Passes may be void if altered, damaged or defaced.

General Terms

  • The laws of the Province of Ontario, without regard to the principles of conflict of law, govern these Terms and Conditions and all matters relating to or arising out of the purchase and/or use of the Recreation Passes. Any dispute relating in any way to a Recreation Pass will be adjudicated by the courts of the Province of Ontario and you submit to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of such courts.
  • The Municipality reserves the right to change these Terms and Conditions at any time in its sole discretion. You agree to accept any changes as a condition of your maintaining or continuing to use the Recreation Passes.
  • Use of any Municipal trademarks or logos in connection with the purchase and/or use of the Recreation Pass or for any other purpose is strictly prohibited.
  • Recreation Passes cannot be used in a manner that is indecent or illegal, or negatively impacts The Municipality, its brands, its reputation or goodwill.

Limitation of Liability and Indemnification:

THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY , WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, EQUITY OR OTHERWISE, FOR ANY CLAIMS, COSTS, DAMAGES OR EXPENSES ARISING OUT OF: (I) YOUR NEGLIGENT ACT OR OMISSION, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT OR FRAUD; (II) ANY BREACH OR DEFAULT BY YOU OF THE OBLIGATIONS UNDER THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS; (III) THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE’S FAILURE TO CARRY OUT ITS OBLIGATIONS IF THE FAILURE IS CAUSED BY A THIRD PARTY, A SYSTEM OR DATA PROCESSING FAILURE OR ANY OTHER ACT OR OMISSION OUTSIDE OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE’S CONTROL; AND (IV) ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE OR SPECIAL DAMAGES REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY ARISE.

THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE Recreation Passes, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. IF THER IS ANY ISSUE WITH OR RELATED TO A GIFT CARE (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IF A GIFT CARD CODE IS NON-FUNCTIONAL), YOUR SOLE REMEDY, AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE’S SOLE LIABILITY, SHALL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH RECREATION PASS.

You shall indemnify and hold harmless the Municipality of Port Hope and its officers, directors, employees, agents, subcontractors or representatives from and against any and all third party charges, claims, losses, demands, damages, liabilities, costs, expenses, causes of action or suits (collectively, “Losses”) incurred or suffered by THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE or its officers, directors, employees, agents, subcontractors or representatives to the extent resulting from: (a) your negligent act or omission, willful misconduct or fraud; and (b) any breach or default (including without limitation breach of a representation or warranty hereunder) by you of the obligations under these Terms and Conditions.

Paperless multi passes are now available for sale.  They are valid for one year from date of purchase.

Multi Passes Terms and Conditions

The Corporation of the Municipality of Port Hope, Department of Parks, Recreation And Culture offers paperless multi passes for a discounted fee when you purchase 10 or 20 passes for swimming, skating, stick and puck or gym drop-in's.

These passes are purchased in 10 or 20 packs and are only redeemable for admission to the specific activity purchased.  These passes are valid for one year from the date they were purchased. There are no exceptions to this date, so please ensure you will use up your passes by the end of the period.

General Terms

Gift Cards are currently available in the amount of $5.00 or more.

Gift Card Terms and Conditions

The Corporation of the Municipality of Port Hope, Department of Parks, Recreation And Culture offers plastic and electronic gift cards, or other gift cards as determined by the Municipality from time to time (individually or together called “Gift Cards”) that can be redeemed for the purchase of Municipality of Port Hope, Department of Parks, Recreation And Culture products and services, as applicable, in participating facilities, unless otherwise indicated on the Gift Card or in these Terms and Conditions.

Gift Cards have no redeemable value until purchased and activated and they cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash. A gift card is a prepaid card that are used to pay for purchases and is not redeemable for cash. The Consumer Protection Act bans most retail gift cards from having an expiry date. This means a gift card can be used to its full value no matter when it is used.

Use of Gift Cards is subject to these terms and conditions governing its use, which may be amended by the Municipality of Port Hope from time to time in its discretion. The purchase, use or acceptance of an the Municipality of Port Hope gift card constitutes acceptance of these terms and conditions.

The act also requires that all restrictions and conditions must be stated in clear and visible writing for the customer.

Gift cards that can have an expiry date include:

  • Gift cards for one specific service (for example, a gift certificate for a massage at a spa may come with an expiry date and lose its value if not used)
  • Gift cards issued for charitable purposes
  • Loyalty cards or club cards used to collect rewards or points
  • Pre-paid credit cards

Types of cards not covered by the gift card rules include:

No extra charges to use a gift card

Under the act, most businesses can’t charge extra fees, such as:

  • activation fees or added service fees to purchase the card or to use the card
  • fees that reduce the value of the gift card over time, sometimes called dormancy fees

No sales tax to buy a gift card

  • Businesses cannot charge harmonized sales tax (HST) when selling a gift card.
  • Applicable HST is charged on items or services when a purchase is made using a gift card.

When can a business charge a fee?

Businesses are allowed to charge for:

  • customizing a gift card
  • replacing a lost or stolen card

  • The available balance on Gift Cards does not expire.
  • Gift Cards are not credit or debit cards, but constitute a prepayment on the cost of purchases with the Municipality, as applicable.
  • There is no cash back for unused balances on Gift Cards, except where required by law.

Purchasing a Gift Card:

  • Gift Cards can be purchased at the Jack burger Sports Complex or Town Park Recreation Centre.
  • Gift Cards must be purchased in Canadian dollars.

  • By making a purchase of a Gift Card, you represent and warrant to the Municipality as follows:
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of all information that you provide to the Municipality.
  • For electronic Gift Cards to be delivered to any person other than yourself, you have a personal or family relationship with the Gift Card recipient as described in Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (“CASL”), and you have the full and complete authority and consent of the Gift Card recipient to provide the recipient’s name and email address to The Municipality or its third-party service providers for the purposes of fulfilling an electronic Gift Card order;
  • You acknowledge that your name, email address and phone number may be shared with third-party service providers and/or the electronic Gift Card recipient in order for the Municipality or its third-party service providers to fulfill the electronic Gift Card order and you give the Municipality or its third-party service providers the authority and consent to do so;
  • You are not breaching any contract, duty or law or infringing anyone’s intellectual property, privacy or other legal rights.
  • Resale of Gift Cards or use for unauthorized advertising, marketing, sweepstakes or other promotional purposes is strictly prohibited.

Redeeming a Gift Card:

  • Gift Cards have no value until activated.
  • Gift Cards cannot be replaced if already redeemed.
  • The full stored value of the Gift Card will be applied to the total eligible amount of your  purchase. Any unused portion will remain on the Gift Card and can be applied towards future purchases.
  • Gift Cards may be void if altered, damaged or defaced.
  • Gift Cards are redeemable at any Municipal recreation facility.
  • You can use multiple Gift Cards to pay for your purchases. If there is an amount owing once your Gift Cards have been used, you must select another method of payment to complete your transaction.
  • For purchases, you will need the Gift Card number to make a purchase.

Reloading a Gift Card:

  • Gift Cards are reloadable at a minimum value of $5 and up to a maximum value of $100.
  • Gift Cards can be re-loaded in-person at any Municipal recreation facility.

Gift Card Balance Inquiry:

  • The Gift Card balance will be printed on your receipt at each use.
  • You can also inquire about your Gift Card balance at a Municipal recreation facility customer service desk, as applicable, by calling 905 885 2474

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Gift Cards:

Gift Cards cannot be recovered or replaced if lost or stolen. Gift Cards may be void if altered, damaged or defaced.

Refunds on Redeemed Gift Cards:

  • A receipt is required for refund requests of purchases made with a Gift Card.
  • If you request a refund for a transaction that you paid for using a Gift Card, the Municipality will issue you a refund on the same Gift Card or issue you a new Gift Card with the refund amount.

Cancelling or Refusing a Gift Card:

  • The Municipality reserves the right to cancel or refuse a Gift Card associated with an unauthorized transaction at any time.
  • Gift Cards purchased from sources other the Municipality may not be valid. The Municipality is not responsible for honouring Gift Card balances purchased through unauthorized sellers.

THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE IS NOT RESPONSIBLE OR LIABLE TO YOU OR ANY THIRD PARTY , WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, EQUITY OR OTHERWISE, FOR ANY CLAIMS, COSTS, DAMAGES OR EXPENSES ARISING OUT OF: (I) YOUR NEGLIGENT ACT OR OMISSION, WILLFUL MISCONDUCT OR FRAUD; (II) ANY BREACH OR DEFAULT BY YOU OF THE OBLIGATIONS UNDER THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS; (III) THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE’S FAILURE TO CARRY OUT ITS OBLIGATIONS IF THE FAILURE IS CAUSED BY A THIRD PARTY, A SYSTEM OR DATA PROCESSING FAILURE OR ANY OTHER ACT OR OMISSION OUTSIDE OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE’S CONTROL; AND (IV) ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR INCIDENTAL, INDIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE OR SPECIAL DAMAGES REGARDLESS OF HOW THEY ARISE.

THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, WITH RESPECT TO THE Gift CARDS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. IF THER IS ANY ISSUE WITH OR RELATED TO A GIFT CARE (INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IF A GIFT CARD CODE IS NON-FUNCTIONAL), YOUR SOLE REMEDY, AND THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE’S SOLE LIABILITY, SHALL BE THE REPLACEMENT OF SUCH GIFT CARD.

You shall indemnify and hold harmless the Municipality of Port Hope and its officers, directors, employees, agents, subcontractors or representatives from and against any and all third party charges, claims, losses, demands, damages, liabilities, costs, expenses, causes of action or suits (collectively, “Losses”) incurred or suffered by THE MUNICIPALITY OF PORT HOPE or its officers, directors, employees, agents, subcontractors or representatives to the extent resulting from: (a) your negligent act or omission, willful misconduct or fraud; and (b) any breach or default (including without limitation breach of a representation or warranty hereunder) by you of the obligations under these Terms and Conditions.
