Parks, Recreation and Culture staff are continually coming up with creative activities to keep you active and engaged during this pandemic.

The Ontario Government announced the province is temporarily moving to a modified Step Two of its Roadmap to Reopen. As of Tuesday, January 4, 2022, the Jack Burger Sports Complex and the Town Park Recreation Centre will be closed until the end of the provincial order. We are in the process of contacting user groups, and registered participants. As always, we thank you for your patience as we continue to navigate these mandates.

Port Hope Waterfront and Riverwalk 

Port Hope’s waterfront and river walk are wonderful spaces with lots of activities for families to enjoy. From playgrounds to fitness parks, there is something for everyone. Get out and explore these areas by completing our scavenger hunt.

Get out and explore these areas and learn a bit about Port Hope’s geography, history, and features while you are at it!

 

Use these clues to find some great places along the waterfront and river walk:
  1. Let’s make music at this beautiful beach! While there, slide and spin too! What sounds can you make at this structure?
  2. From out at my end, you can see just how big Lake Ontario is. How many great lakes are in Canada?
  3. This beach has the best stones for skipping and if you’re lucky, a piece of sea glass to take home.
  4. Grab your paddles and game on along the river. Where can you find this Ping Pong table?
  5. This rocky monument inspired by the book “The Farfarers: Before the Norse” is a major tourist attraction. Can you name the author for whom the monument was built?
  6. This plaque features the Great Farini! Read the plaque to find out what Farini did.
  7. Get your heart rate pumping at this active park! Where can you go to do a complete circuit under the sun?
  8. Where can you find the “Port Hope Ganaraska Fish Experience”? What map is displayed on the sign?
  9. Along the Waterfront Trail is the Riverside Railway Trail. How long is this trail and where does it end?
  10. This is a popular destination to watch the fish migration! What type of fish can be seen jumping here?
