Traffic Disruptions – August 31 and September 1

The Municipality has just received notice that CP Rail will undertake significant construction work along the CP tracks, spanning the length of the CP Rail train trestle*. This rail work includes a large crew from CP Rail and will impact traffic flow below the CP Rail trestles, from John Street to King Street on August 31 and September 1, 2021.
*The CP Rail trestle is located north of the CN Rail trestle.

Residents are advised of the following road closures to accommodate filming in the area on Wednesday, August 25 from 9:00 a.m. to Thursday, August 26 at 2:00 a.m. and Thursday, August 26 from 9:00 a.m. to Friday, August 27 at 2:00 a.m.:
- Walton Street from Ontario Street to Mill Street
- Queen Street from Walton Street to the laneway between Antiques on Queen and Northumberland Arts Gallery and Shop.

Water Distribution System Interruption

Residents are advised that on Wednesday, July 28, 2021, a slight interruption to the water distribution system may take place. Staff will be performing maintenance work on the system between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and this may cause a temporary reduction in water pressure throughout the urban area of the Municipality.

Smoke Detected at Town Hall

Residents are advised that Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services attended to a call at Town Hall this evening after receiving a report of smoke in the basement of the building. Firefighters responded quickly and have confirmed that there is a small amount of smoke but no active fire in the building. Investigations as to the cause of the smoke are continuing. No injuries have been reported.
