Policing services in Port Hope's urban area are provided by Port Hope Police Service and the Ontario Provincial Police provides service to the rural area. Both services share information and resources on a regular basis to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of the Municipality of Port Hope.
Port Hope Police Services Board
The Port Hope Police Service Board provides civilian governance and oversight of the Port Hope Police Service. The Board establishes policing priorities, develops policies, approves the police budget, and monitors the Chief of Police’s performance. Its role is to ensure that adequate and effective policing is provided in accordance with the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
