Adam Pearson Assumes Deputy Mayor Role for Municipality of Port Hope
For Immediate Release
Wednesday, January 7, 2026 - Port Hope, ON
Adam Pearson, a current member of Port Hope’s Council, has assumed the role of Deputy Mayor for 2026, as part of the Municipality's established rotation system for this position.
“I am honoured to be taking on the role of Deputy Mayor for the Municipality of Port Hope for 2026. I am deeply grateful for the confidence placed in me, and I look forward to continuing to serve our wonderful community with dedication and a strong commitment to collaboration,” states Deputy Mayor Pearson. “I want to extend my sincere appreciation to outgoing Deputy Mayor Vicki Mink for her exceptional leadership and steadfast service. Vicki has been a strong voice for residents and a tireless advocate for responsible, community focused decision making. Her guidance and contributions have strengthened our municipality, and I am thankful for the foundation she has helped build. As we move into 2026, I remain focused on working with Mayor Hankivsky, Council, Staff, and most importantly the people of Port Hope to support progress, foster community spirit, and ensure that our incredible community continues to thrive. Thank you, Port Hope, for the opportunity to serve the greatest community.”
In 2023, Council approved a rotational system for the Deputy Mayor position, offering eligible Council members the opportunity to serve in this leadership role. The rotation for the current Council term includes Councillors Attridge, Holloway Wadhwani, Mink, and Pearson.
The Deputy Mayor serves primarily to represent the Mayor when they are ill or absent, or at public events and functions. While the role is not legislated under the Municipal Act, it is widely adopted by municipalities across Ontario and Canada to support Council operations and leadership.
“As we begin a new year, Council remains committed to working together to advance priorities that strengthen our community,” says Mayor Olena Hankivsky. “We look forward to Deputy Mayor Pearson’s leadership in this role and thank Councillor Vicki Mink for her dedication as Deputy Mayor in 2025.”
