Heat Warning: Municipal Cooling Centres

Residents are advised that Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the area. Daytime highs through much of the week are expected to be 31°C to 36°C with humidex values of 38°C t0 46°C. The extreme heat alert is forecasted to dissipate beginning Saturday, July 4.

Canada Day Closures

Residents are reminded that municipal administrative buildings, municipal transit services, recreation facilities, the Port Hope Public Library branches, and the Hope Transfer Station will be closed on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 for the Canada Day holiday. All municipal staff services will resume at their usual operating hours on Thursday, July 2, 2026.

Walton Street Bridge - Temporary Closure

The Walton Street bridge (from Mill Street South to Queen Street) will be closed on Monday, June 29 to allow for repairs to the road cuts on both sides of the bridge (weather permitting). These repairs are related to the watermain break that occurred in December.
Please note that additional work will be required in the future as we plan for the long-term repair of the watermain located beneath the bridge and river.
