Below is a summary of key items discussed at the Municipality of Port Hope regular Council Meeting held on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. The full agenda and staff reports are available on the Council Portal.
At the top of the meeting, a cheque presentation was made by Paul Racine, on behalf of the Port Hope Health Care Foundation, to the Mayor and Members of Council. The $40,000 cheque was the final installment from the Foundation to complete their total commitment of $150,000, which was used to build Multi-Purpose Room at the Jack Burger Sports Complex.
Joint Animal Control Municipal Services Board
Council passed a resolution to appoint Councillor Terry Hickey to the Joint Animal Control Municipal Services Board for the remainder of the Term of Council.
401 Municipal Display Signage Upgrade
After consideration of a Staff report at the last Committee of the Whole meeting, Council passed a resolution approving the proposed design option #1 for the Municipal displays that will be upgraded along both the East and West 401 Corridors. Staff will undertake to have the signage built and installed, beginning this spring.
Permanent Public Art Installation
At the last Committee of the Whole meeting, Council considered a Staff report regarding a request to maintain the mural on the riverbank wall on the west side of the Ganaraska River. The art installation was originally completed in September, 2017 as a temporary installation and the Parks, Recreation & Culture Advisory Committee established a working panel to review the art, as required through the Permanent Public Art Policy. At the Council meeting on March 20, Council passed a resolution approving the permanent public art installation of the Salmon Mural on the wall of the Ganaraska River.
Minutes from this meeting will be available pending approval at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, at which point they will become the official record of the meeting.
