2026 Municipal Budget Update

At its final meeting of the year, Municipality of Port Hope Council approved the schedule for the 2026 municipal budget process.
Since the introduction of Strong Mayor Powers in 2025, the budget process has changed. Under this legislation, the Mayor is responsible for preparing and presenting the budget to Council before February 1.

2025 Municipal Holiday Hours

Administrative office holiday hours will take effect beginning on Wednesday, December 24, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. and will resume on Friday, January 2, 2026, at their regular office hours (Fire Administration will resume on Monday, January 5, 2026).
During this time, municipal administrative offices remain closed and administrative staff services will not be available.

Work will be taking place near the A.K. Sculthorpe Woodland Marsh and the barrier beach along portions of Lake Ontario beginning December 15 until December 24. The barrier beach helps protect the Marsh, but it is part of a naturally eroding shoreline. This erosion speeds up during periods of extreme lake levels, creating risks for this sensitive area.

Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services wants to remind residents to take proper fire safety precautions and stay fire safe this holiday season.
