Special Council Meeting - Updates from Canadian Nuclear LaboratoriesLibrary staff are preparing to close the Garden Hill Branch on August 15, 2018, in anticipation of the move to the new site at the former Canton Municipal Building on County Road 10. This building will be renamed The Port Hope Community Hub and will house the rural branch of the Library as well as programming space for the Municipality’s Parks, Recreation and Culture Department.
As of August 16 and up to the opening of the new library location in mid-September the community is encouraged to visit the Mary J. Benson Branch at 31 Queen Street to drop off materials, check out books/DVDs, use the free wi-fi/computer stations, attend a program or just stop in to enjoy the air conditioning and the wonderful view of the Ganaraska River.
Another option is to visit Port Hope Public Library’s virtual library (www.porthopepubliclibrary.ca) available 24 hours/7 days a week to renew materials, place a hold or use some of the electronic resources including downloadable e-books.
There will be a 2-day book sale at the Garden Hill Branch site located at 3609 Ganaraska Road (next to Alex Carruthers Memorial Park) on Tuesday, August 21 from 1-7 pm and on Wednesday, August 22 from 10 am to 2 pm. Come early for the best selection. Cash and carry sales only. Refreshments served.
