Port Hope Fair Parking Restrictions and Transit Interruptions

The annual Port Hope Fair is back from September 17 to 20, 2026. Residents are reminded of the following impacts:

Road Closures

McCaul Street will be closed east of Deblaquire Street. 

Parking restrictions

To alleviate traffic congestion and ensure emergency vehicle access to the fair grounds and surrounding neighbourhood, there will be no parking from September 17 at 8:00 a.m. to September 20 at 5:00 p.m. on the following streets:

Run Salmon Run Road Closure – September 13

Ontario Street Theatre is hosting the fifth annual Salmon Festival this Weekend. Run Salmon Run is a free community event that celebrates the annual salmon migration in the Ganaraska River. It will take place on both sides of the River from Walton Street to the Rotary Footbridge. The event will feature educational activities, vendors, live music, entertainment and displays from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

"Name That Snowplow" Returns for a Second Year

Last year, residents helped crown two winning snowplow names, ‘Plowie McPlowFace’ and ‘The Big Leplowski’, which quickly became familiar sights on local roads throughout the winter season. Following an overwhelming response to the inaugural contest, we are once again inviting the community to showcase its creativity, humour, and civic pride by helping name two snowplows for the upcoming winter season.

Labour Day Holiday Closures

A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings, the Hope Transfer Station, Transit Services, the Town Park Recreation Centre, the Jack Burger Sports Complex, and the Public Library branches will be closed on Monday, September 7, 2026 for the Labour Day Holiday. 

All municipal services will resume at their usual business hours on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
