UPDATE: Thursday, February 7 - 1:30 p.m.:
Residents are advised that the initial remediation work to the Jack Burger Sports Complex facility is almost complete and that the pool will re-open for regular programming, beginning at 5 p.m. today.
A reminder that the accessible family change room will be closed for an extended period of time. For patrons who require the use of a family accessible change room before entering the pool may use the arena accessible washroom, however, the lifts, tables and wheelchairs that are usually available in the family change room are not ready for use at this time.
A special thanks to the Municipality of Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services Department, the Port Hope Police Department and the remediation companies for working so quickly and efficiently to allow for the pool programs to resume this evening.
We appreciate the patience shown by our patrons over the last couple of days and look forward to seeing all back in the pool.
UPDATE: Wednesday, February 6 - 2:15 p.m.:
All pool programming during the day on Thursday, February 7 has been cancelled, while remediation efforts continue. Depending on the remediation timelines on Thursday, evening programming (after 5 p.m.) may continue as scheduled. An update will be posted on this web page and over social media on Thursday afternoon to confirm the schedule. Please continue to monitor this site.
Patrons registered in aquatic programming are receiving communications from Municipal Staff via phone calls and email, where up-to-date contact information has been provided.
Please note that the accessible change room is closed until further notice. Male and female change rooms are accessible, but do have some limitations. Please contact the Staff at JBSC if you require use of an accessible change room.
Residents are advised that all pool programs at the Jack Burger Sports Complex (JBSC) are cancelled for the remainder of Wednesday, February 6, as clean up from the change room fire continues throughout the day. The pool accessible change room will be closed for an extended period of time for full remediation.
An additional update will be issued after 4 p.m. today, with details about the status of pool programming for Thursday, February 7.
The arena at JBSC has been re-opened, after required inspections to the fire monitoring system. However, residents are encouraged to check in with their community program provider, to ensure that the programming is on-going, given the current inclement weather conditions.
