The Municipality of Port Hope is saddened to learn of the passing of Ms. Elizabeth (Betty) Collins, former Mayor of the Town of Port Hope, who died on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, in her 89th year.
Ms. Collins blazed a historic trail for women in politics in this community. First elected as a Councillor in 1988, she was acclaimed Reeve in 1991 and, soon thereafter, became the first female Mayor of the Town of Port Hope in 1993. Residents are advised that the Municipality has commenced its Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) search, an initiative that was identified and approved in the 2020 Budget.

Further to the COVID-19 Update #12 that was issued by the Municipality on May 15, 2020, the following is a list of amenities that have been officially reopened for public use:
- Baulch Road dog park
- Municipal picnic areas, including Optimist Park, Lake Street Gazebo, East and West Beach
