Municipality of Port Hope to Welcome New Interim Director of Development Services

The Municipality is pleased to announce the appointment of Brian Bridgeman as the new Interim Director of Development Services, effective October 13, 2026.
Mr. Bridgeman holds a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, School of Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo and a Diploma in Public Administration from the University of Western Ontario. In his most recent role as Commissioner of Community Growth and Economic Development for the Regional Municipality of Durham, he advised Council and senior leadership on a broad range of planning and development matters, including growth management, development approvals, policy and land use planning. He also led a large team of planning and economic development professionals, guiding initiatives focused on community growth, economic development, tourism and transportation planning.
“I am excited to be joining a team of dedicated professionals that works hard to serve the people and businesses of Port Hope," notes Mr. Bridgeman. "This is an important time in the Municipality’s future and I feel very fortunate to be part of it.”
With over 40 years of experience in municipal and regional planning and development, Mr. Bridgeman has provided trusted professional advice to committees, councils, stakeholders and the public on a wide range of urban, rural and regional land use planning matters, helping communities navigate growth and development opportunities.

Mr. Bridgeman will officially join the Municipality on October 13 for a 12 month term, and we look forward to welcoming him to Port Hope.
