Precautionary Notice to Boil Water in Isolated Section of Port Hope
Residents are advised that a Boil Water Advisory has been issued to a limited number of homes on Lakeshore Road between Shortt Street and Strachan Street. Working in conjunction with the HKPR Health Unit, it was decided that a Boil Water Advisory was a precautionary step to protect the health and safety of residents in this area.
The Port Hope water system is tested regularly at multiple locations and one test result indicated possible contamination. Water samples are being retested to determine if the sample was a false positive result and maintenance measures have been taken to isolate the area.
Impacted residents have been advised through door-to-door in person visits and/or have been supplied with recommended actions during a Boil Water Advisory. Affected residences will be required to boil their water for one minute before consuming it, until the Advisory is lifted. Water used for bathing or for laundering of clothing does not need to be boiled. Residents may instead choose to purchase bottled water for consumption for the duration of this Advisory.
This advisory will remain in effect until further notice is provided to residents. It is anticipated to remain until at least Sunday, July 2, as multiple samples, at varying times, will be tested. The Municipality is working closely with the HKPR Health Unit to resolve this water quality concern.
For questions or further information on this Advisory please contact the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit at 1-866-888-4577 Ext. 5006.
