Temporary Road Closure at Walton and Pine Streets and Transit Detour
As construction steadily progresses westward along Walton Street, crews are encountering space limitations that are affecting the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment. To address these challenges and ensure public safety, the intersection of Walton and Pine Streets will be temporarily closed starting Monday, June 16.
This closure is necessary to facilitate the movement of construction vehicles and equipment and to minimize risks to residents and visitors. The intersection will remain closed for approximately two weeks, with a temporary reopening on July 1 to accommodate the Canada Day parade. Following the event, the closure will resume for an additional two to three weeks as work in the area continues.
Transit Detour
While this intersection is closed, Transit Route A will be re-routed to avoid the affected intersection. The detour route will be as follows:
- North on Pine Street from South Street
- West on Bruton Street
- South on Julia Street to Walton Street
Please note that due to this detour, bus stops A3 and A4 will be temporarily out of service. Riders who typically use these stops are advised to use the nearest available stops along the detour route. For a detailed look, review our transit map.
