Wildfire Smoke Affecting Air Quality in Port Hope
The Municipality of Port Hope is receiving inquiries from residents regarding the smell of smoke in the community. Smoke from ongoing forest fires in northern Ontario is affecting air quality across many parts of the province, including our area.
Residents may notice smoky conditions or reduced air quality as weather patterns shift and carry smoke into the region.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued information and health guidance related to outdoor activities during periods of reduced air quality caused by wildfire smoke. Residents are encouraged to monitor local air quality conditions and take appropriate precautions, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to smoke exposure.
The Municipality will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as needed. For current air quality information and health guidance, visit Environment and Climate Change Canada.
