Downtown Closures to Accommodate HBIA Trick or Treat Night

The annual HBIA Trick or Treat night has grown in popularity, attracting over 500 children last year. This year, to improve safety and enhance the experience for all, there will be road closures to accommodate pedestrians.
From 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, the following closures will be in place:
Road Closures- Walton Street (from Cavan Street to Mill Street)
- Ontario Street (from Thompson Drive to Walton) local traffic only to Brogdens Lane

Please be advised that Ward Street (from Elgin Street South to Rose Glen Road North) and Deblaquire Street North (from Ward Street to College Street) will be closed from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on October 22, 2025. As a result of these closures, transit stop #B20 will not be in service, and the bus will be re-routed around the closure.

Design work begins for Cavan Street and Highland Drive Reconstruction

The early stages of the Cavan Street and Highland Drive Reconstruction Project are now underway. The design phase contract has been awarded to CIMA Canada Inc. (CIMA+), who will lead the investigations and detailed engineering needed to prepare reconstruction plans.
The project area includes:
- Cavan Street (from Walton Street to Highland Drive)
- Highland Drive (from Cavan Street to the west side of the Jack Burger Sports Complex)
