Updates from the Mayor
October 16 to 22 is Local Government Week and the Municipality has launched its ‘Mayor for the Day’ contest. The Municipality of Port Hope is encouraging students to get involved in their local government, providing the opportunity for youth to build awareness about the vital role local government plays in the community.

The ‘Mayor for the Day’ contest is open to students in Grades 7 and 8. The contest encourages young people to think about public service and future community leadership. This is an opportunity for youth to submit an idea to the Municipal council on how to make our community a better place to live. This initiative will increase student interest and awareness. Contest details and application forms are found on the website.

Temporary Road Closures
A series of temporary road closure By-laws were passed by council, in preparation of work to be completed by water and sanitary services as well as upcoming Remembrance Day and Christmas special events.

Minutes from this meeting will be available pending approval at the next Council meeting on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, at which point they will become the official record of the meeting.
