Port Hope, ON – May 31, 2017 – The Municipality of Port Hope welcomes a new face to Town Hall this month with the addition of Kate Ingram as the Communications and Community Engagement Coordinator, effective May 29.

Ms. Ingram joins the Municipality’s Corporate Services team from Trent University, where she was the Manager of Communications and Community Relations at the University’s Durham campus.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kate to the Municipality,” noted Brian Gilmer, Director of Corporate Services / Clerk. “Her previous experience in communications and community engagement within the public sector will be a definite asset to Town Hall and will ensure continued development of the position within the community.”

Ms. Ingram is responsible for both external and corporate communications on municipal matters, including the development and implementation of a strategic communications plan that will complement the Municipality’s community engagement strategy and maintain a consistent and robust communication channel between Town Hall and the residents of the Municipality.

“Our council is dedicated to open lines of communications between the Municipality and the community,” explained Mayor Bob Sanderson. “We are confident that Kate will support our continued efforts to keep the community informed, as well as expand our outreach initiatives to explore new and innovative ways for all of our residents to interact and engage with local council.”

Ms. Ingram will also design and lead community consultation programs that are aligned with the engagement strategy and that will help to inform council of the residents’ needs. Her duties also include media relations, stakeholder communications and the maintenance of a clear and engaging online presence.
