Municipality of Port Hope Implements Revisions to Transit Routes

Changes Take Effect November 6

For Immediate Release

Monday, November 6, 2017 - Port Hope, ON

Effective Monday, November 6, a revised transit map has been implemented by the Municipality of Port Hope, with minor changes made to the routes that reflect the feedback given by transit users and the bus drivers, in an effort to best suit the needs of the community.

“A month into the newly established routes, we have found that there are a few gaps in the current system,” explained Councillor Terry Hickey, Chair of the Works and Engineering committee. “We have been very open to ridership and bus driver feedback and the revisions that have been made to the map are in response to the needs expressed by those who are regular transit users. Our consultations are leading to a more accessible and safer transit system and we are pleased to implement these revisions to best suit the needs of our ridership.”

The slight revisions to the routes include the addition of more bus stops and re-establishing the stops at the Independent Grocer and Metro grocery store. No changes have been made to the transit time schedule and buses will continue to leave Town Hall on the hour and the half-hour, as usual.

Bus users are encouraged to download a revised map, available on the Port Hope transit webpage, or pick up a hard copy at Town Hall (56 Queen Street) the Development Team Office (5 Mill Street), the Tourism Office (20 Queen Street) or the Mary J. Benson branch of the Port Hope Public Library.

Questions regarding the bus routes or schedule can be directed to the Development Team Office at 905-885-2431.
