PORT HOPE, ON – As part of our ongoing commitment to transparency, communications and leveraging technology, Port Hope is pleased to announce the launch of our new Council Portal.
The one-stop online portal provides users with direct access to agendas, minutes, by-laws, and meeting schedules in a user-friendly format. Linked directly from the Municipal website, the Council Portal provides access to the meetings calendar, agendas and minutes along with a comprehensive search function, full print capability for all documents, along with integrated subscription and social media share options.
The calendar provides an overview of all scheduled meetings by month. Each entry is interactive and allows users to click on any meeting listing to access agendas and adopted/approved minutes. The meetingssection features all published meeting agendas and minutes in a choice of PDF or HTML with options for both single page and split screen viewing and agendas include direct links to all reports and attachments for that meeting. E-Resources allows users to search all agendas, minutes and by-laws by simply typing a key word in the search box and to further refine their inquiry with the advanced search function.
While electronic access to Council documentation has been available for some time, the new portal includes the ability for users to subscribe to any or all meeting categories to have agendas and minutes delivered directly to their email inbox in real time. Once registered, users will receive immediate notification whenever new agendas or minutes are published and may unsubscribe at any time.
Councillor Rick Austin, Chair of General Government and Finance stated, “Municipal Council and Staff are continually seeking opportunities to enhance public communications. With dedicated access to documentation on Council proceedings and a new subscription feature, the Council portal makes it even easier to stay informed.”
The new Council Portal was implemented at no cost through the Municipality’s provider for online meeting management. The Council Portal initiative is consistent with Council’s Corporate Strategic Plan goal areas of accountability, transparency, communications and use of technology, as well as the Corporate Communications Policy.
