A Special Council Meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 56 Queen Street, Port Hope for the purpose of swearing-in a new member of Council representing Ward 2 (Rural Area).
At this meeting, the Municipal Clerk will administer the Oath of Allegiance and Declaration of Office to Mr. Darrell Toms, who was declared the winner of the June 6 By-election to fill the vacant Ward 2 position on Council.

Eligible electors in Ward 2 are reminded that the voting period for the 2024 Ward 2 (Rural Area) Municipal By-election is officially open.
Those who have not received a Voter Instruction Letter can still be added to the Voters’ List. Contact staff by email or call 905-885-4544 ext. 0
Voting Period:The voting period is open from June 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. until June 6, 2024 until 8:00 p.m.

Highland Drive Intersection Closure – June 3

The Highland Drive Watermain Project is progressing ahead of schedule, and the underground work is complete meaning the road is now fully re-opened.
This week is focused on watermain disinfection and water sampling. As previously communicated, a second intersection closure is required to tie-in the new watermain to the existing system. Heroes Highway Ride and Rally Road Closures

Residents are advised that the Heroes Highway Ride and Rally will take place on Saturday, June 1, 2024. The motorcycle procession is anticipated to arrive in Port Hope between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. The public can expect traffic delays as the procession travels down Ontario Street into the Downtown to park. Motorcycles will park on Queen Street, with entertainment, food service and vendors set up in Memorial Park.

The Municipality can announce that all demolition authorized under the recently approved Heritage Demolition Permit has been completed for Block 2 of the File Factory. The demolition focused solely on the specified block, preserving the former Beamish Mill along with other sections and buildings of Block 2, in keeping with Council direction previously provided that identified the scope of the work was to focus on the immediate threats to public safety.
