Director of Parks, Recreation, and Culture Announces Retirement

Municipality of Port Hope Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) Director Jim McCormack has announced his plans to retire this spring, after more than three decades dedicated to public service, over twenty of which were spent in Port Hope.

No Reservations Required at Caroline Street Rink

As the Municipality has been placed into the Orange Zone of the Provincial COVID-19 Response Framework, and to accommodate changes in municipal operational and staffing needs for recreation facilities, effective Thursday, February 18, reservations are no longer required to skate at the Caroline Street Rink.
Those who have already booked a reservation at the Caroline Street Rink from Thursday, February 18 to Saturday, February 20 have been contacted and advised of this change.

Modified Recreation Programs Resume at Select Facilities
The Ontario Government advised that the Stay-at-Home Order will cease on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 and that the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit, which includes Northumberland County, will be placed in the Orange- Restrict zone of the Province’s COVID-19 Response Framework. As a result, the Municipality is permitted to re-open and operate modified programs and activities at select municipal facilities.

Since the opening of the Caroline Street Rink last weekend, staff have reviewed the new reservation process and have made some changes to increase efficiency and make the process easier for our participants.
Before you begin…Please be mindful that this is an oversubscribed recreation opportunity. To ensure fairness and provide many people with an opportunity to participate, each person can reserve a maximum of three time slots per week.

The Caroline Street rink will open on Saturday, January 30, 2021. Due to the current COVID-19 related protocols in place, the following guidelines apply:
- All skaters must make a reservation for their skate time through our online reservation system (no drop-ins permitted).
- Participants are restricted to Northumberland County residents only.
- All skating timeslots are 45 minutes each.
- There is a maximum of 10 skaters permitted on the ice at all times.
- All skaters must wear a mask.
- Municipal staff will be onsite...
