Free Transit on Routes A and B Continues During Walton Street Reconstruction – Phase 3

The Municipality of Port Hope is pleased to share that free transit service will once again be offered on Transit Routes A and B within Port Hope, beginning Monday, May 5, 2025. This fare suspension, first introduced during the 2024 construction season, is being reinstated to support the community through Phase 3 of the Walton Street Reconstruction Project.

Easter Holiday Closures

Residents are advised of the following impacts to services due to the upcoming Easter Holiday. 

Administrative building closures:

Municipal administrative buildings are closed on Friday, April 18 and Monday, April 21, 2025.

For urgent services related to water or roads, call 905-885-2431 and press * to reach our after-hours emergency line.

Transit service impacts:

Ganny Weekend Road Closures and Parking Restrictions

Float Your Fanny Down the Ganny returns this weekend to the mighty Ganaraska River on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Please take note of the following impacts:

Road closures

Residents are advised of the following road closures on Saturday, April 12 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to accommodate the annual race.

• Barrett Street Bridge (closure begins Friday, April 11 at 8:00 a.m. until Saturday, April 12, at 6:00 p.m.)

Transit Changes to Accommodate Phase 3 of the Walton Street Reconstruction

With the upcoming closure of Walton Street (April 1, 2025) for phase 3 of the Walton Street Reconstruction Project, Transit Services will be implementing route changes beginning Monday, March 31, 2025, and will continue until the completion of the Walton Street Reconstruction project in the fall.

To ensure continued transit service, we have arranged for modified transit routes during this period. Please take note of the following changes:

Family Day Closures

A reminder to residents that municipal administrative buildings will be closed and transit service unavailable on Monday, February 17, 2025, for the Family Day holiday. Municipal recreation facilities will remain open for the day. 

The Port Hope Public Library branches and the Hope Transfer Station will also be closed on February 17.

All the above municipal services will resume at their usual business hours on Tuesday, February 18, 2025.
