Choate Road Long-Term Closure Notice
The Municipality has been notified that the long-term closure of Choate Road will begin on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. This closure is to accommodate the major MTO infrastructure project taking place surrounding highway 401. Signage about the closure has already been installed in the impacted areas by the construction team for the Ministry.
The Municipality of Port Hope has committed to sharing impacts and road closures with residents as they are confirmed and become available by the Ministry of Transportation. For project updates and further details, residents are encouraged to monitor communications from the Ministry of Transportation.
As part of this project, the Municipality will be receiving asphalt grindings at no cost. This byproduct has proven to be a very efficient and cost-effective way to resurface our municipal roads. To minimize traffic disruptions, trucking of the material to the Rural Operations yard (4741 5th Line) and much of the work (including asphalt milling), will take place overnight. Municipal staff are aware of the potential impact and will monitor activity closely.
Additionally, residents and community members can ask questions or seek additional information about this project by contacting the project representatives:
