Fire and Emergency Services to Officially Welcome New Vehicles in Traditional Push-in Ceremony
MEDIA ADVISORY
Monday, September 22, 2025- Port Hope, ON
Port Hope Fire and Emergency Services is pleased to invite members of the media to a push-in ceremony, celebrating the arrival of the new water tanker and wildland truck. Approved in the 2025 Budget, these vehicles demonstrate the Municipality’s commitment to replacing aging equipment and ensuring reliable emergency services.
A "push-in ceremony" is a long-standing tradition for fire departments dating back to the 1800s. In the days of horse-drawn equipment, crews had to unhitch the horse after returning from a call and physically push the apparatus back into the station. Today, push-in ceremonies bring firefighters and the community together to celebrate important investments in public safety while honouring the history of the fire service.
