Green Together: Sustainability Expo and Community Clean-up in celebration of Earth Week, April 26
For Immediate Release
Wednesday, April 8, 2026 – Port Hope, ON
The Municipality of Port Hope invites residents to celebrate Earth Week through a full day of community-focused environmental action at the Green Together: Sustainability Expo and Community Clean‑up on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Sustainability Expo
Discover the power of local action at the Port Hope Environmental Advisory Committee’s second annual Sustainability Expo, taking place at the Town Park Recreation Centre from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Expo will bring together environmental groups, local businesses, students, and community innovators, all showcasing practical ways residents can help protect and enhance the natural environment.
This free, all‑ages event features a wide range of local contributors, hands‑on demonstrations, engaging workshops, and a youth showcase of creative sustainability projects.
Councillor Claire Holloway Wadhwani, Chair of the Environmental Advisory Committee, shared her enthusiasm for this year’s Expo:
“We’re inviting everyone in Port Hope and beyond to join us, whether you're already leading green initiatives or just curious about how to make a difference, there's something here for you. This isn't just another event; it's a launching pad for real change. People will leave with practical skills they can use right away, connections to local initiatives they can join, and the inspiration to make their homes, businesses, and neighborhoods greener. That's what gets me excited about this Expo – learning from each other and taking real action together.”
Attendees can explore local efforts in biodiversity, circular economy, nature protection, energy efficiency, and more, with opportunities to engage directly with experts and community organizations throughout the day.
Community Clean‑up & BBQ
As part of the day’s activities, residents are encouraged to roll up their sleeves and join the community clean‑up, beginning at 12:30 p.m. Volunteers will work together to pick up litter and refresh shared community spaces in an action‑oriented complement to the learning and inspiration offered at the Expo.
Deputy Mayor Adam Pearson, who organized the clean-up event, emphasized the importance of community participation:
“The clean‑up is a reminder that when we come together, even small actions can create a meaningful impact. It’s about neighbours supporting neighbours, taking pride in our shared spaces, and showing what community in action really looks like. We hope to see many residents taking part in both events.”
Following the clean‑up, all participants are invited to stay for a community BBQ at 2:00 p.m., celebrating the collective effort and fostering connection among volunteers, residents, and partners.
