Hazardous Weather - Facility Closures – February 18, 2026
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm watch for the area, expected to bring snow, ice pellets and freezing rain to the region. All motorists and road users are urged to use extra caution and adjust driving behaviour to suit current road conditions.
Due to the anticipated hazardous winter weather, all public municipal administrative facilities will be closed on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Recreation facilities and the Port Hope Public Library will be closed until 12:00 p.m., at which time weather conditions will be evaluated, and further updates will be issued if the opening schedule changes. Where possible, administrative staff will be working from home to maintain Municipal services.
Facility closures include:
- Town Hall
- Development Team Office
- Fire Administration Office
- Port Hope Public Library (until 12:00 p.m. - evaluated at that time to determine opening)
- Jack Burger Sports Complex (until 12:00 p.m. - evaluated at that time to determine opening)
- Town Park Recreation Centre (until 12:00 p.m. - evaluated at that time to determine opening)
Transit Services
Transit will begin operations as scheduled at 7:00 a.m. Conditions will be assessed throughout the day. Should there be any changes to this schedule, updates will be provided.
Hope Transfer Station
The Hope Transfer Station is scheduled to open at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesdays. At this time, the facility is expected to open as planned. Should there be any changes to this schedule, updates will be provided.
