Help Shape Our New Pump Track
We are developing a new pump track in Port Hope—and we want your input!
Join us for an in-person Community Open House on Thursday, May 8 at the Town Park Recreation Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
What is a Pump Track?
A pump track is a looped, paved circuit with berms, rollers, and turns designed for riders of all kinds—bikes, scooters, skateboards, and wheelchairs. Instead of pedaling or pushing, riders use momentum and body movement to “pump” through the course. These tracks are fun, inclusive, and naturally become gathering places for youth and families, encouraging physical activity and social connection.
Why Are We Building One?
This project is made possible by a $200,000 Capital Grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation, awarded to support outdoor recreation and active lifestyles. It was inspired by strong community interest, including a presentation by local youth and residents to the Parks, Recreation and Culture (PRC) Advisory Committee in April 2022.
Since receiving the grant in August 2024, PRC staff have worked diligently to secure a contractor through a competitive bid process.
What Will It Include?
While our contractor has proposed some exciting features, space is limited, so we need your help to decide what features to include. Share your thoughts on the design, your riding experience, skill level, and interest in the project. Your feedback will help the contractor design a track that fits our community’s needs and skill levels. Take our short survey at engage.porthope.ca/pump-track.
