Municipality of Port Hope to Welcome New Director of Water and Wastewater Services

The Municipality is pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Islam as the new Director of Water and Wastewater Services, effective July 20, 2026.
In her new role, Ms. Islam will lead the Water and Wastewater divisions, providing strategic direction and oversight for operations, regulatory compliance, capital planning and service delivery to meet the community's current and future needs.

Ms. Islam is a licensed Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional with nearly a decade of municipal experience leading complex capital programs, asset management initiatives and public works projects. Most recently, she served as Manager of Capital Projects and Infrastructure for the City of Pickering, where she supported long-range planning, provided leadership to a multidisciplinary team, and guided the development and implementation of key municipal projects, including roads, bridges, sidewalks, multi-use paths, stormwater systems and streetlighting.
Before joining the City of Pickering, she built her career with the City of Oshawa, progressing through a range of positions with increasing responsibility.

Ms. Islam will officially join the Municipality on July 20, and we look forward to welcoming her to the community.
