Severe Weather Impacts and Emergency Response Delays
The Municipality of Port Hope is experiencing a high volume of calls for emergency response service due to ongoing severe weather conditions. Many roads, particularly in the north end of the Municipality, are inaccessible due to downed trees, hydro lines, and ice-covered surfaces.
Emergency response times may be delayed as our crews navigate these hazardous conditions. In some areas, power has been out for over 12 hours, and residents may experience poor internet and cell service. We urge residents to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.
The following public facilities are open for those in need of water access, device charging, and a warm space:
- Fire Station 3 – 3585 Ganaraska Road
- Jack Burger Sports Complex – 60 Highland Drive
Extreme caution should be taken when traveling to these locations due to hazardous road conditions.
Residents should prepare for a prolonged power outage and take necessary precautions. Please check on vulnerable neighbours and follow official channels for updates.
A reminder that electricity outage information is supplied by our providers Hydro One and Elexicon Energy. To contact Hydro One by phone, call 1-800-434-1235 and for Elexicon, call 1-866-579-6819. Be sure to stay connected with your provider during an outage to get the most up-to-date information from their websites, outage maps, and/or social media channels if possible.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we respond to this evolving situation.
