A Special Council Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Town Hall, 56 Queen Street, Port Hope.
At this meeting, Council will move into a closed session, in accordance with the Municipal Act, 2001, S.O. c.25, Section 239(2)(h), to receive information explicitly supplied in confidence to the municipality or local board by Canada, a province or territory, or a Crown agency of any of them. This relates to a confidential update from OPG regarding potential energy development opportunities in Port Hope.
Council will also receive a confidential update from staff regarding ongoing OPG negotiations, in accordance with Section 239(2)(k), for matters involving a position, plan, procedure, criteria, or instruction to be applied to any negotiations carried on or to be carried on by or on behalf of the municipality or local board.
Following the closed portion of the meeting, Council will reconvene in open session to continue discussion of the Ward Boundary and Council Composition Review Interim Report. Due to time constraints at the Special Council Meeting on November 4, 2025, where Council reviewed the interim report from Watson & Associates Economists Ltd., it was determined that additional time was needed to consider the next steps in the community engagement process for this review. This portion of the meeting is open to the public and will be live streamed on the Municipality’s YouTube channel.
